As a process, when a driver is registered on Cartisement’s platform, we will collect location data through our Android and IOS phone applications with proper permissions in place to track users phone location in the background or foreground for 7 days called the Qualifying period. The only purpose of this qualifying period data is to assess the drivers normal driving patterns and mileage to match the driver with the right brand based on the driving history.

Qualified Mode:

Once the Qualifying period is over, the driver status changes to “Qualified” which means the no more data will be collected during the Qualified Period. Qualified status can last for days, weeks, months, or years based on when a new campaign is available in the area.

Campaign Mode:

When there is a campaign available, it is displayed to the driver in the Campaigns section of the menu, where drivers can apply. Upon approval of the campaign application, we start tracking location in the Foreground with a visible notification that will alert the driver when location is being tracked.
The application will continue to track the device’s location the foreground with a notification for the duration of the campaign, otherwise the app stays in the background to assess if there is any GPS movement that brings it back in the foreground and start tracking. What GPS data do we collect?

The only information we collect from the driver’s phone through our driver application is the longitude, latitude, and the speed of the GPS. The purpose of this data is to calculate the distance covered from one point to another that adds up to total mileage that is displayed in the driver’s application. And to calculate the earnings based on the number of mileages tracked through the application.

What are background services?

When the driver/phone is not actively driving/moving the application will stay in the background only to identify the status though a physical activity permission. The will only track when the physical activity recognizes “DRIVING” activity.

What are foreground services?

Once the app successful detects “DRIVING”, it sends a notification to the driver “We are saving your Route” which means now the application is in the foreground of the phone and will send GPS data to the servers.

For all drivers using our Services, the driver’s mobile phone will send your GPS coordinates, during the commute, to our servers. Most GPS enabled mobile devices can define one’s location to within 50 feet. We collect this information for various purposes – including to determine the amount of money you earn while performing the Services, to provide you with support, to send you promotions and offers, to enhance our Services, and for our internal business purposes.

In addition, our advertisers can see the GPS coordinates recorded by the driver’s mobile phone for all driving time, as well as certain information about you, such as your First Name and Vehicle information. Drivers are not identified by their full names or tied to their physical address when reporting to the advertisers.
